Harrington Returns as Donald's First Lieutenant

Luke Donald has named Padraig Harrington as his first vice-captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor. Harrington won the Open Championship in 2007 and 2008 and the PGA Championship in 2008. Donald's appointment as 2027 captain followed his 16.5-11.5 victory over the United States at Marco Simone in 2023, the recovery from Harrington's 19-9 defeat at Whistling Straits two years earlier. Adding Harrington gives Donald a sounding board who has lost and won on this stage and who understands the particular pressure of home soil.
