England's team pursuit triumph over sickness at Commonwealth Games

England's team pursuit squad won Commonwealth Games gold despite a bout of sickness that swept through the camp on the morning of the event.

Team manager Steve Pitman confirmed the disruption went beyond minor discomfort. "We were dealing with some serious issues this morning," he said. "But these riders showed incredible resilience."

The final ride came down to pacing and timing. England held their push for the closing stages and edged out their rivals by a narrow margin at the line. Tom Dowling said the effort took everything out of the squad. "It wasn't easy, but we pushed through. Gold feels good," he said.
