Hull fires 62 to break Centurion record and join lead

Charley Hull carded 62 at PIF London Championship

Charley Hull shot a 62 in the second round of the PIF London Championship at the Centurion Club, the lowest score in Ladies European Tour history. The round also broke the venue’s course record. Hull finished one stroke behind the tournament lead.

The Centurion has historically favored defense over offense. Its dogleg fourth hole and island green on the 17th have typically turned championships into grinding tests. Hull bypassed that strategy on Thursday.

"I just tried to stay in the moment," Hull said. "The conditions were tricky, but I felt like I could trust my game enough to go after the pins when it mattered."

Hull’s 62 was built on aggressive scoring. Rather than playing for bogey-free pars, she attacked the layout, accumulating birdies at a high rate. The performance addresses lingering questions about Hull’s form on links-style courses, which dominate the European schedule.

The previous Centurion Club record stood as a benchmark for the tournament. Hull broke it by four strokes.

"She’s playing with a freedom we haven’t seen from her all year," one tournament analyst said. "When Charley hits it like this, she is untouchable."
