Mayo 1-20 Kerry 1-17: Moran Ends 75-Year All-Ireland Wait

Mayo beat Kerry 1-20 to 1-17 at Croke Park to win their fourth All-Ireland Senior Football title, ending a championship drought dating back to 1951. The county had lost eight finals in the 75 years since.

Andy Moran, the former Mayo forward and ex-captain who played through several of those final defeats, delivered the title as manager. He was visibly moved when the final whistle confirmed the result.

"This is for everyone who has ever worn this jersey and believed," the Mayo captain told the crowd. "We never gave up, and today we proved that perseverance pays off."

Mayo held their three-point margin through the closing stages despite Kerry matching them for much of the game. The 1-20 total proved decisive as Kerry could not convert late pressure into scores.
